It even happened to me…
Y'all. It happened to me. In my home.
➡️ I got greenwashed.🤦♀️
With our feminine hygiene products.
Rewind to several months ago while traveling, I started my period a week early and I didn't have my sea sponge. Ran to Target and was in a hurry and grabbed some tampons and pads for myself and my daughter.
Silly me didn't read the label, only the front of the packaging. (I know, right?!?) Used them on this trip and the pads intermittently over my last few cycles.
My daughter however was using the tampons regularly. 😬 A friend's daughter watched a TikTok and shared it with her (article here). Emily was shocked to find out that her tampons had been bleached in titanium dioxide. (And even more shocked I allowed them in our house!)
She knew enough to throw them out. 🙌
I never even thought about double checking. And I hate that.
But, we learn from our mistakes and do better.
The bottom line is I don't want anything even potentially carcinogenic getting directly into the bloodstream from one of the most absorbable places in the body. There is just no need, especially when there are better options available (Sea Pearls, Seventh Generation, Lola).
Listen, I know to read labels and I got lax. As my daughter said, "I guess you just see that Organic on the label and get comfortable." Yup. See how easy it is to be deceived? (And we all know it happens all.the.time!)
I share with y'all so you can make good choices...know better, do better and all. Now, go check your products and make some changes if necessary. Protect those lady parts, girls. 😘
