Prioritizing rest not productivity

Hate when timing doesn't match up? When you have time to do stuff but just don't feel like it?

I’m recovering from a head cold last week and I am still tired. I wanted to get all kinds of stuff done this week with the holiday and some ‘empty' days of being off of our usual schedule while my daughter is at camp. But my alone time with Oliver has instead turned into more play and rest and presence, which was needed much more than productivity.

No it doesn't help my to-do list, but it for sure did the state of my body, mind, and soul. I'm doing the little things when and where I can, and it was SO nice to give myself permission to take a break, own it, and just plan on resetting next week. After all, it IS summer! (And I already knew I was making both of those a priority last month.)

It is so important to recognize that rest and play are NOT luxuries but so necessary to staying in symmetry for wholistic wellness. And in our productivity-focused society, that sometimes is a radical truth. And it's easy to resist. But please reconsider that myth for your own health and wellbeing.

Do you prioritize rest and play? How? Share with me below.

*I really loved my time with my best little buddy this week. We BOTH needed it.
